The upgrading of ports and logistics corridors, combined with projects such as natural gas pipelines and subsea electricity interconnections, is strengthening the geoeconomic importance of the region.<\/p><p>At the same time, instability in neighboring regions, maritime disputes, and the need to protect critical infrastructure make security a key planning parameter. Greece, due to its geographical location and maritime strength, is in a favorable position, while also facing increased responsibilities.<\/p><p>The key challenge is to formulate a coherent strategy that links infrastructure with diplomacy and defense, leveraging international partnerships without underestimating the rivalries emerging in the region.<\/p><p>Based on the above, several critical questions arise:<\/p><ul><li>What is the real role of the Eastern Mediterranean in European energy planning?<\/li><li>Which transport infrastructure projects could act as game changers over the next decade?<\/li><li>How do geopolitical tensions affect the security of maritime routes?<\/li><li>Is there a realistic prospect for a common regional security architecture?<\/li><li>What are Greece\u2019s limits and potential as a hub?<\/li><li>How are energy projects linked to the protection of critical infrastructure?<\/li><li>What is the role of external powers (the U.S., China, and the EU) in the region?<\/li><li>How can the resilience of logistics be ensured during times of crisis?<\/li><\/ul><p>We will explore the answers during the first thematic session of the conference.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Eastern Mediterranean is emerging as a strategic hub for transportation, energy, and security, with direct implications for Europe and the Middle East.
